Following the recent dry spell Bethesda had to travel away to play Nant Conwy in the mud, the wind and the rain.
It had to be a battle amongst the forwards then - just like in the old days!
Nant went ahead in the 9th minute when Iwan Aled Jones scored a try from a lineout and a rolling maul. Outside half Delwyn Jones kicked the conversion.
For the rest of the half we saw the best of the Bethesda forwards but Daniel Pritchard’s penalty goal was the only reward for all their efforts. The half ended with a 7 points to 3 lead for the home side.
From the restart Bethesda No 8, Rhys Williams gathered the ball and ran deep into Nant’s 22 area. The support did not arrive in time and a scoring opportunity went begging.
After 17 minutes play Nant scored a similar try to the one in the first half although No 8, Carwyn Ellis did not appear to be in control of the ball when he crossed. The conversion was missed but the 12 points to 3 lead seemed a comfortable one in the conditions.
The home side controlled most of the play for the remainder of the half and both sides made a number of substitutions late on.
With the game drawing to a close Jones kicked long across the pitch. The ball bounced off a Bethesda player into the arms of Nant substitute Arthur Lennon and he scored an easy try which was converted by the outside half.
Bethesda remain in fourth spot in the table as the teams immediately below them also lost.
