Ar b’nawn gwlyb a gwyntog roedd blaenwyr Bethesda’n rhy gryf i’r tîm cartref wrth iddyn nhw sicrhau pwynt bonws ar Gae Smyrna.

Y tîm cartref, gyda’r gwynt cryf o’i gefn, aeth ar y blaen ar ôl pedwar munud drwy gôl gosb. Er hynny, Bethesda oedd yn rheoli’r meddiant gyda’r blaenwyr yn cadw’r bêl yn dynn am gyfnodau hir.

Ar ôl 19 munud llwyddodd maswr Bethesda, Mathew Parry, i fylchu drwy amddiffyn Llangefni ac, o’r ryc a ddilynodd, ysgubwyd y bêl i’r dde a chroesodd yr asgellwr ifanc Alwyn Roberts am gais yn y gornel.

Rai mundau yn ddiweddarach derbyniodd prop Bethesda, Gareth Ogwen Williams, gerdyn melyn am drosedd dechnegol. Yn dilyn cyfnod o bwysau dyfarnwyd cais cosb i’r tîm cartref a gwnaeth y trosiad hawdd y sgôr yn 10 pwynt i 5 erbyn hanner amser.

Gyda mantais y gwynt, Bethesda wnaeth lwyr reoli’r meddiant a’r tiriogaeth yn yr ail hanner. Yr wythwr, Rhys Williams sgoriodd ail gais Bethesda ar ôl 10 munud i  wneud y sgôr yn gyfartal.

Yn dilyn nifer o ymosodiadau ar linell gais Llangefni sgoriodd yr asgellwr Daniel Pritchard gais yn y gornel ond aflwyddiannus fu ei ymgais i drosi.

Gyda’r bwlch rhwng y timau yn ddim ond 5 pwynt ymdrechodd Bethesda’n galed i ymestyn y fantais.

Er i Fethesda groesi’r llinell ar fwy nag un achlysur, dim ond ymdrech hwyr y blaenasgellwr Arwyn Griffith a ganiatawyd gan y dyfarnwr.

Buddugoliaeth a phwynt bonws haeddiannol i Fethesda felly er bod nifer o chwaraewyr heb fod ar gael.

Dymuniadau gorau am Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i’r chwaraewyr ac i  holl gefnogwyr ffyddlon Clwb Rygbi Bethesda.

On a wet and windy afternoon Bethesda’s forward strength  proved too much for Llangefni as they powered to a bonus point victory at Cae Smyrna.

Playing with the wind, it was the home side that drew first blood with  a 4^th minute penalty goal.

However, it was Bethesda that controlled much of the possession keeping the ball through numerous phases at a time.

After 19 minutes Bethesda’ stand off, Mathew Parry, broke through Llangefni’s defence and, from the ensuing ruck, the ball was swept to the right where young wing Alwyn Roberts crossed in the corner.

Some minutes later, Bethesda’s prop, Gareth Ogwen Willaims, was yellow carded for a technical offence. Following a period of pressure a penalty try was awarded to Llangefni and the easy conversion made the score 10 points to 5 by the interval.

With the wind at their backs the visitors completely dominated possession and territory in the second period. It was No 8, Rhys Williams, that crossed for Bethesda’s second try after 10 minutes play making the scores equal.

Following a number of attacks on the Llangefni tryline Bethesda wing Daniel Pritchard crossed in the corner but his conversion attempt was not successful.

With the points difference still only 5  Bethesda made strenuous attempts to increase their advantage.

Although Bethesda crossed the tryline on a number of occassions, only flanker Arwyn Griffith’s late attempt was awarded by the referee.

A deserved bonus point victory for Bethesda then who had a number of players unavailable for various reasons.
