Ruthin 8 - Bethesda 13

Bethesda’s continuing injury problems and unavailability were swept aside as they gained an important victory away at Cae Dol.

Defence from both sides was the dominant factor but the home side was guilty of giving away more penalties. Bethesda went ahead from a Daniel Pritchard penalty goal after 15 minutes play.

That kick was answered by one from Nathan Jones and both sides were equal at 3 points apiece by the interval.

Pick and drive play from the Bethesda forwards was impressive but they were unlucky not to go ahead from an unsuccessful Pritchard’s penalty kick.

Ruthin then took an 8 points to 3 lead when wing Jack Higgins crossed after a flowing backs move.

Bethesda were awarded a penalty kick straight from the restart and Pritchard closed the gap to 2 points.

With 15 minutes play left Bethesda were awarded another penalty kick. From the ensuing lineout, youth wing Gethin Harper went over for a try. Pritchard kicked the conversion giving the visitors a 13 points to 8 victory.
