Girls tour

The Bethesda rugby girls took to the road this weekend for their first ever tour. The under 13's 15's and 18's enjoyed watching the Wales v Italy men's game in seven sisters rugby club and what a warm welcome they had there.  They then had a quick visit to their hotel before being taken for a mystery trip which no one knew anything about, unbeknown to everyone arrangements had been done for the girls to meet with the Wales Women's  team for a meet and greet at their hotel before their game with Italy the next day. The girls were gob smacked when shown into a room and greeted by the whole team, coaching staff and physios. They were welcomed by team captain Rachel Taylor who introduced the team, they then went on to say a bit about how they prepare before a match. The girls then got a chance to ask questions and each  Wales player answered in great detail about how they got into rugby and what the girls should be doing to get into international rugby. Then the cameras came out and a few selfies were taken. Rachel mentioned in her talk about how they prepare for games that they have a little sing song so the Bethesda girls gave them a song. They were amazed and this time it was the Wales l team who had their cameras out. Then it was time to announce the next surprise. The girls knew they were going to watch the Wales v Italy women's game on Sunday but Rachel announced that it had been arranged that they were the guard of honour for the game. The girls left on cloud nine back to the hotel. On Sunday the surprises kept coming,  9 of the girls were chosen to be match ball girls for the game and after welcoming the teams on the field in the guard of honour the girls took to their places for their role of ball girls.  Our youngest player had the most important job which was to take the ball to the centre of the field for each play and she did  an amazing job each time along with the rest of the girls. Those girls watching and the parents also had a very exciting game but not the score they wanted.

The journey home was a bit quieter with very tired girls and parents but didn't sleep much too busy with Facebook and tweeting their new friends the Wales women's team and sharing their experiences.  And what an experience it was.
