Bethesda 40 - Abergele 17

This was Abergele's first visit to Dôl Ddafydd as a Division 1 side and their season so far has been a successful one.

However, it was the home side that went ahead after 5 minutes play from prop Lee Sherlock's try which was converted by Daniel Pritchard.

The scores were equal some miutes later following Gareth Beech's try and Owain Davies' conversion. Davies added a penalty goal after 20 minutes play to put the visitors ahead.

Before the interval Pritchard slotted over 2 penalty goals to give the home side a 13 points to 10 lead.

Pritchard added another penalty goal early in the second period before lock Huw Williams scored a try for Bethesda while scrum half Jared Mitchell was in the sin bin.

Abergele continued in their well drilled style and full back Ritchie Williams crossed for a deserved try which was converted by Davies.

With gap down to 4 points Bethesda upped the tempo and centre Jon Armstrong crossed for a try after 21 minutes play. 3 minutes later came the try of the match. The move was started by Llion Lloyd from his own half and was continued by Gwion Emlyn's break. Flanker Dylan Hughes and wing Alwyn Roberts handled well for Jared Mitchell to cross in the corner. Pritchard kicked the difficult conversion making the score 33 points to 17.

With the match slipping away Abergele never gave up and set up some useful attacking positions. Bethesda's defence however was up to the task.

Bethesda continued in attacking mode and set up a ruck in Abergele's 22. The ball was swept right and prop Gethin Owen's flick pass to wing Alwyn Roberts was one to remember. Roberts scored in the corner and Pritchard's conversion sealed the bonus point victory.
