Bethesda 46 Abergele 16

Abegele's encouraging start to the season came to a shuddering halt at Dôl Ddafydd when the home side blew the visitors away in a 7 try to 1 victory.

The visitors must have been lulled into a false sense of security following Bethesda 50 points to nil drubbing at Pwllheli last week. However, the home side looked a completely different side this week and were 22 points to 6 ahead at the interval following tries by Mathew Parry, Gethin Owen and Gethin Long. Long had also kicked a penalty goal and 2 conversions. Abergele's points had come from 2 penalty goals from Owain Davies.

Abergele started the second period brightly and Davies dropped a goal after 10 minutes play. Bethesda struck back immediately with another Parry try. 3 more tries were scored by the hosts from Elis Ogwen Jones, Danial Ogwen Jones and captain Arwyn Griffith. Long converted another 2.

Bethesda introduced 3 youth players in the final quarter but were hardly weakened by the changes. Abergele scored a late consolation try from Anthony Tilley and Ben Jones added the conversion.
