Mae Bethesda’n dal heb golli gêm ar Dôl Ddafydd y tymor yma ond roedd y cefnogwyr yn edrych yn bryderus iawn wrth i’r tywydd a’r golau ddirywio.

Ar gae gwlyb iawn cychwynodd Bethesda’n hyderus ac roedd Llion Lloyd wedi croesi yn y cornel am gais ar ôl 2 funud o’r gêm. Yn anffodus, cafodd y canolwr David Thomas ei anafu tra’n rhoi’r bas i Lloyd a bu raid iddo adael y cae.

Sgoriodd yr ymwelwyr gais eu hunain 4 munud yn ddiweddarach - aeth yr asgellwr Tom Crawford rhwng y postiau yn dilyn toriad da gan y cefnwr Evans. Ciciodd Lloyd Williams y trosiad.

Parhau wnaeth yr adloniant ar y cae meddal ac roedd yr wythwr Rhys Williams wrth law wrth i flaenwyr Bethesda wrthio pac Rhuthun dros y llinell gais.

Ciciodd Mathew Parry gôl gosb i Fethesda cyn sgorio cais unigol da ychydig o funudau cyn yr hanner gan wneud y sgôr yn 18 pwynt i 7.

Sgoriodd yr asgellwr chwith Huw Parry gais da i’r ymwelwyr ar ddechrau’r ail hanner. Daeth cawodydd trymion a gwyntoedd cryfion i amharu ar y chwarae am gyfnod ac er i’r chwaraewyr geisio’u gorau doedd yr elfennau ddim o’u plaid nhw. Ciciodd Gethin Long gôl gosb i Fethesda ar ôl 25 munud o’r ail hanner a dyna ddiwedd y sgorio.

Gyda’r golau’n prysur ddiflannu bu raid i Fethesda chwarae 10 munud olaf y gêm gyda 4 dyn ar ddeg. Roedd y tîm cartref wedi defnyddio pob un o’i eilyddion pan fu raid i Lloyd adael y cae efo anaf.

Gorffennodd y gêm gyda’r tîm cartref dan gryn bwysau oherwydd hyn ond safodd yr amddiffyn yn gadarn.

Buddugoliaeth felly a bydd yn rhaid cael ymdrech dda arall y Sadwrn nesaf pan fydd Bala’n ymweld â Dôl Ddafydd.

Bethesda’s 100% home record this season is still standing but many a supporter cast anxious glances at the skies as the weather and the light deteriorated at Dôl Ddafydd.

On a soggy pitch Bethesda started full of confidence and Llion Lloyd crossed over in the corner after 2 minutes play. Unfortunately, David Thomas, who gave him the scoring pass, had to leave the field with an injury.

The visitors scored a try of their own 4 minutes later - wing Tom Crawford went between the posts following a clean break by fullback Evans. Lloyd Williams kicked the conversion.

The entertainment continued on the soft pitch and, following a series of attacks on the Ruthin try line, No 8 Rhys Williams was the beneficiary of a pushover from the Bethesda pack.

Mathew Parry kicked a penalty goal for Bethesda before scoring a fine individual try several minutes later making the score 18 points to 7 at the interval.

Left wing Huw Parry scored a good try for the visitors ar the beginning of the second period. Heavy showers and strong gusts ended all attempts to play constructive rugby despite the players’ valiant efforts. Gethin Long kicked a penalty goal for the home side after 25 minutes and that proved to be the end of scoring.

With the light rapidly fading Bethesda had to play the last 10 minutes with 14 men. All the home substitutes had been used by the time Lloyd was injured.

The match ended with the home side under considerable pressure but the defence proved strong enough to keep Ruthin out.

So another home victory for Bethesda and a similar effort will be needed next Saturday when Bala visit Dôl Ddafydd.
