Bethesda 25 - COBRA 3

Gwella fu hanes amddiffyn chwaraewyr Bethesda ers yr wythnos ddwytha’ ac roedden nhw’n edrych yn gadarn iawn yn erbyn blaenwyr bywiog COBRA ar Dôl Ddafydd. Bu raid i’r ail-reng dylanwadol, Dylan Owen, adael y cae yn gynnar iawn efo anaf i’w ffêr a dioddefodd sgrym Bethesda am gyfnod yn yr hanner cyntaf.

Ar ôl tua hanner awr o’r gêm croesodd yr wythwr, Rhys Williams am gais i’r tîm cartref. Cyn y chwiban i ddiweddu’r hanner, roedd Mathew Parry yn y lle iawn i dderbyn cic letraws Gethin Long ac i groesi am gais. Yn anffodus, ni lwyddwyd gyda’r trosiadau a gorffennodd yr hanner efo Bethesda ar y blaen o 10 pwynt i 0.

Aeth y tîm cartref ymhellach ar y blaen yn y 10fed munud o’r ail hanner pan groesodd y prop Gareth Ogwen Williams am ei gais cyntaf o’r tymor. Methwyd gyda’r trosiad ac ymhen rhai mundau sgoriodd COBRA ei hunig bwyntiau o’r gêm drwy gôl gosb gan Llew Williams.

Ciciodd Mathew Parry gôl gosb i Fethesda cyn i Jared Mitchell sgorio cais cyflym pan gosbwyd COBRA o flaen y pyst. Ciciodd Parry’r trosiad ac mae Bethesda’n dal yn ddi-guro ar Dôl Ddafydd y tymor yma.

Perfformiad llawer gwell na’r un a welwyd yn Llandudno felly a da oedd gweld 2 chwaraewr sydd wedi dioddef anafiadau hir dymor yn ôl ar y cae. Croeso’n ôl i Dave Tom a Steve Roberts.

Diwrnod i’r brenin i chwaraewyr Bethesda dydd Sadwrn nesaf. Mae’r clwb yn mynd drwodd i ail rownd Plât SWALEC heb orfod chwarae. Gobeithio na fyddwch yn gorfod mynd i siopa hogia’!

We saw a defensive improvent in defence by the Bethesda players from last week and they looked far more secure against COBRA’s lively forwards at Dô Ddafydd. Inflential lock Dylan Owen had leave the pitch in the first few minutes of the match suffering from damaged ankle ligaments. His absence caused a few problems in the scrum for the home team in the first half.

After 30 minutes play, Bethesda’s Number 8, Rhys Williams, crossed for the first score of the afternoon. Just before the half time whistle, Mathew Parry was on the end of a clever cross kick by Gethin Long but his try, as well as the first one, went unconverted giving Bethesda a 10 points to 0 lead at the interval.

The home side went further ahead after 10 minutes of the second half when prop Gareth Ogwen Williams crossed for his first try of the season. The conversion was missed and some minutes later COBRA scored their only points of the match froma Llew Williams penalty goal.

Mathew Parry kicked a penalty goal for Bethesda before Jared Mitchell scored a try with a quickly taken penalty when COBRA were penalised in front of their posts. Parry kicked the conversion preserving Bethesda’s 100% home record this season.

A much improved performance from last week’s debacle at Llandudno and a great boost was the welcome return of 2 players who have suffered from long time injury problems. Welcome back Dave Tom and Steve Roberts.

An afternoon off for Bethesda’s players next Saturday with the club having been given a bye in the First Round of the SWALEC Plate competition. Hope you don’t have to go shopping lads!
